Prices and funding

Provision of long term rehabilitation after stroke and traumatic brain injury is sparse all over Europe despite evidence of the effectiveness of intensive treatment. Our private rehab programs are highly effective, but it is important to note the costs of treatment - not only in time, commitment and motivation - but also in greater financial commitment than some other types of treatment.

Usually private treatment is paid for through a medical insurance policy or is self-funded, directly from your own money. With some insurance policies you have to pay for the treatment yourself and then claim the money back, whereas others will pay the clinic or therapist for you. If you have a medical insurance, make sure you read your policy carefully before you start treatment. It is best to contact the insurance company in advance to get their written agreement that they will pay, and to find out:

  • Whether they will cover the whole cost of the treatment and stay, or whether there are some costs that you will have to cover yourself
  • Whether they will accept a referral from your GP or if the company has its own consultant that you may have to speak to
