Our rehab programs
Goal-oriented teamwork with the participant in focus
At Hedla, we have a high staff density and our team consisting of well-trained and committed physiotherapists, speech language pathologists and neurologists all work together with the participant to optimize the rehabilitation. Prior to each program, the participant and their companion meet with our team for a thorough evaluation of health conditions, symptoms and individual abilities. Together with the team, the participant sets relevant goals for the period and a rehab plan is made, which will serve as a basis for the detailed training program. The goals are highly individual and are clearly specified to be measurable. It can be anything from becoming more independent in basic transfers to being able to run again, speaking in longer sentences, reading the news or eating with cutlery. It is often also a matter of learning new strategies to manage specific everyday activities on your own through increased structure and different techniques.
Intensive and individualised training
The individualised training take place 3 or 5 hours per day in order to reach a sufficiently large training dose and intensity to be able to achieve the participant's goals. The training is continuously evaluated during the program and is updated and adjusted depending on individual conditions and progress achieved. At the end of the rehabilitation period, the participant receives recommendations for continued training and the option of follow-ups and training at home.
Lectures for participants and companions
During the rehab period, we offer recurring lectures and workshops. We place great focus on both practical and theoretical education with participants and companions in, among other things, the following areas:
- The brain's function and its ability to develop and reorganize itself
- Evidence-based neurological rehabilitation for various diagnoses and symptoms
- How to train and make the greatest possible progress, according to current research
- Effective and safe training at home
- How relatives or personal assistants can train and support the participant at home, in a safe and effective way
Programs during spring 2021
We are running our programs almost as usual during the spring, but with extra precautions in place of course. You can read more about this HERE.
We actively monitor changes regarding restrictions and infection spreading and have updated our booking conditions, making them more flexible. Payment is due only two weeks before the program start and we offer the possibility of free cancellation if participation in a planned program cannot be fully or partially realised as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. A full refund also applies for both rehab and accommodation if payment has already been made or if the situation changes in the last two weeks before a program. We follow the recommendations of the Spanish and other European authorities and our doctor in charge also makes an individual assessment for each participant.
